Alexandra Wesker

MSc RNutr MRSB

I hold a degree in animal sciences followed by an MSc in animal nutrition, both from Wageningen University. Born in the Netherlands, I relocated in 2012 to the UK where I began providing nutritional advice to horse owners through consultations and published work in magazines and my book ‘Natural feeding for horses’. In 2017 I transitioned to a role as technical adviser for pet premixes with one of the world’s largest premix manufacturers, covering UK, Europe, Middle East and North Africa. In 2022, after serving as Head of Nutrition and New Product Development for a pet food company, I set up as an independent consultant for pet nutrition. Supporting both suppliers and manufacturers in the pet food industry, I currently support clients based in 10 different countries across UK and EU.

Experience

  • Webinars: Late 2024 I was one of three speakers during a industry webinar, explaining the opportunity of specific raw materials in pet food. Early 2024 I was part of an expert panel during a Q&A on alternative proteins in pet food.
  • Training sessions: I have provided training sessions to nutritional teams for formulation and raw material usage.
  • I regularly feature as an author in leading industry magazines.
  • I also write marketing documentation and articles for brands about their ingredients or products.
  • Claim substantiation: I have supported multiple companies in creating dossiers for substantiation behind functional claims for pet food.
